The Magic of Beauty and the Beast is Alive at the Detroit Lakes Library

Fans of Beauty and the Beast are invited to the Detroit Lakes Public Library (1000 Washington Ave.) for a Beauty and the Beast Ball on Thursday, March 23 from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Come for tea and “grey stuff” (it’s delicious!), spark your creativity with crafts inspired by the tale as old as time, and participate in a costume contest, but donning your favorite Beauty and the Beast themed outfit! This event, offered free of charge, is for children of all ages and their families.

The library’s Book Discussion Group is discussing The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom on Tuesday, March 21 at 3:00 p.m. All are welcome to join the group!

Those interested in learning more about their family trees are invited to the library for a Beginning Genealogy class on Tuesday, March 27 at 2:00 p.m. If you’d like to learn more about your iPhone, attend the iPhone Basics Class on Wednesday, March 29 at 3:30 p.m. Registration is required for both of these classes, which are offered free of charge – call 218-847-2168 to register.

There is still time to enter the drawing for tickets for the library’s upcoming event, An Evening with Garrison Keillor. To enter, visit the library or go online to www.larl.org. The event will take place on April 27 and the drawing for tickets will be held Monday, March 27.

Kelly Blackledge, of the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge, will headline the next Library Club meeting with a discussion of the hobby of birding. The Library Club will meet on Tuesday, March 28 at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome.
