New Catalog FAQ

We are making changes to our online catalog to ensure that library customers have a more enjoyable experience while searching for books, placing holds and updating their accounts. This email is to keep you updated of any changes you may experience while accessing our online catalog. From Friday, October 23 through the evening of Sunday, October 25, certain services will be unavailable while the updates are completed.

Can I still check out books and other materials?
Yes! You will have to have your library card in hand to check out materials, as library staff members will only be able to access your account using your barcode number.

Will I be able to check out eBooks and eAudiobooks during the update?
Yes, our digital library, including Overdrive and the Kids eReading Room will continue to be accessible during and after the catalog update. Access our digital library here!

Do I need a new password?
Yes, your account pin (or password) will be reset, and you will have to select a new pin. After the update is in effect on Monday, October 26 you will temporarily access your account using the last four digits of your phone number, until you select a different pin.

Is my local library staying open during the update?
Only three locations will be closed during the update. The Rothsay and Twin Valley LINK Sites on Friday, October 23 and the Crookston Public Library on Sunday, October 25.

Will there be any changes at my local library?
Self check-out machines will not be available for use from Friday, October 23 to the evening of Sunday, October 25.

Can I still access my Reading History in the new catalog?
Yes! Your Reading History will be transferred over to the new catalog.

What about my account’s Lists and Preferred Searches?
Account Lists and Preferred Searches will not be transferred to the new catalog. If you use these features, you will need to save or print the records before the update takes place on Friday, October 23. To learn how to print or save your information, visit your local library or use the instructions below:

To Print Your Preferred Searches:

  1. Log into your account.
  2. Click the “Preferred Searches” button to see a list of your saved searches.
  3. Click print in your browser to save your preferred searches.

To Print Your Saved Lists:

  1. Log into your account.
  2. Select the “My Lists” icon.
  3. Select a list.
  4. Select the Export List Icon to have a copy of the list sent to your email. Please check all your folders for this email – it could be sent to your spam folder. You can also click print from your browser
