She writes a mystery series set in the desperate world of television news – a world she knows well from her career as a freelance news producer for NBC and CBS. She also ran the WCCO I-Team in Minneapolis, where she won numerous national investigative awards. Her thrillers take readers inside how newsrooms make decisions amid chaos.

An avid reader, she tired of fictional TV reporters always being portrayed as obnoxious, secondary characters who could be killed off whenever the plot started dragging. Her series features reporter Riley Spartz as the heroine.

Allan Dragseth and Roger Odegaard are third generation sugarbeet farmers. Together they co-founded the Red River Sugarbeet Museum in Crookston. Allan is the current president and Roger is the vice president. They both had exhaustive collections of memorabilia related to both sugarbeet farming and sugarbeet industry in the Red River Valley, much of which they have donated to the museum. They have acquired many antique and vintage pieces of equipment for the Sugarbeet Museum, and much of it has been restored. In addition, Allan has collected old movies featuring sugarbeet harvests from the last fifty years and has converted most of them to narrated DVDs for public viewing.

He shares his hilarious take on venturing out on first ice, the small cities and lavish ice houses that sprout up on northern lakes, the sometimes controversial sport of ice spearing and odd-ball celebrations such as Walker’s Eelpout Festival.
Meet Eric Bergeson, Minnesota author of Down on the Farm!

Living in a small town provides life-long education, entertainment and great food. Where else are funerals the main social event? Where else do you have a different accent for every neighborhood or family? Where else do people in their 80s still play a vital role in community affairs? Eric discusses the ups and downs of small town life in an entertaining talk.

Eric writes a weekly column called Down on the Farm which is published in 22 newspapers in Minnesota and North Dakota, is the author of five books and owns Bergeson Nursery in his hometown of Fertile, MN.
