Kid’s Author Visit with Patrick “Packy” Mader June 14-18

Patrick Mader is an elementary teacher and children’s book author who wrote “Oma & Opa Together,” “Oma Finds a Miracle,” and “Big Brother Has Wheels.” Mader will present a rural and agricultural education program with an authentic milking machine and discuss the writing, illustrating and publishing process. Mr. Mader will be visiting all 13 LARL branch libraries in celebration of summer reading.

1. Visit your local LARL branch or LINK Site to pick up a reading log.
Or, print your SRP Reading Log here!

2. You may read books yourself, listen to audiobooks, have someone else read books to you, or do some of each. When you have completed 15 books OR 15 hours, bring your completed reading log to your local branch or LINK Site for a prize.

3. KEEP ON READING!!! After completing the SRP Reading log, pick up a Read Every Day reading log. Keep track of the books/time you spend reading during the rest of the summer for a chance to win a prize at the end of August. Submit as many Read Every Day logs as you want!!!

ChalkFEST 2010 Featuring Penny & Pals July 28 at Moorhead Library!

Join us on Wednesday, July 28 at 2 p.m. outside Moorhead Library for ChalkFEST 2010!

ChalkFEST 2010 is a celebration of the Arts for the whole family! Come and watch Art in action as local artists create sidewalk murals. Then, get inspired to make your own and help us decorate the sidewalks all around the library.

Penny and Pals will perform at 2 p.m.

This program is free and designed to encourage children to read over the summer months. Studies show that students who read over the summer are better prepared for school success in the fall. The LARL Summer Reading Program “Make A Splash: READ!” makes summer reading more fun with good books, special events and reading incentives.
