Breckenridge Public Library added an event.

Welcome to a world of brave immigrants, joyful dance music, the sound of ballads from hundreds of years ago, and the stories of trolls, giants and the underground world in nature. Hardanger fiddle player Loretta Kelly and performer Arna Rennan will delight audiences with “slaatter og stev” fiddle tunes.

This event is made possible through funding from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Breckenridge Public Library added an event.

This event is open to adults and older youth who are interested in learning about photography and lighting. Please join photographer Meghan Kirkwood for an interactive workshop on portable studio lighting. Studio lighting is used to create evocative photographs of a range of subjects, including portraits, fashion, architecture, and wildlife.
This workshop will introduce participants to some of the key equipment used to create portraits on-location. Kirkwood will also discuss how studio lighting can be used to transform the representation of other subjects, such as landscapes, and some of her own work. Participants should be prepared to be photographed or assist in creating portraits of others in the group.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.

Nanci Walter TobiasLeAnn Alstadt Holland painted this beautiful mural as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award service project. Her Silver Award project included raising money by "selling" books for a library quilt, which she & her mother then created for the library. In addition to the mural, the money raised from the quilt project purchased new furnishings for the children's area. I was honored to be involved with LeAnn's accomplishments and in awe of this amazing young woman who I first met as a preschooler attending Storytime at the library. I am still in awe of this caring and accomplished woman! If you have not seen or noticed both the mural & the library quilt, be sure to stop by the library once the latest renovation/remodeling is done.

Well here's a blast from the past! During our remodel project, we found this old Lake Agassiz Regional Library card that says it was issued September 4th 1989.

We need to make room for new furniture that we've ordered as part of our remodel, so we have two sections of our children's bookshelves for sale!
Please message our page, call (218-643-2113), or email (breckenridge@larl.org) if you are interested in these items.

The dimensions for the smaller section are:
73 inches wide, 12 inches deep, and 41 inches tall.

For the larger section the dimensions are:
184.5 inches long, 12 inches deep, and 41 inches tall.

The inside width of each bay is 35 inches.

Suggested prices are $20, and $35 respectively for each section, but let us know if you'd like to make a different offer. We'd love to see these shelves go to good homes!

There is also a 12x12 inch section that comes with if you decide to purchase both sections to create this "L" shape.
