Great news! The Legacy conference committee just released its spreadsheet. They have agreed to the House position of $3 million per year for regional public libraries. Thank you to all who contacted your legislators. It clearly made a huge difference.
The Minnesota Digital Library received $300,000 per year. Since this was the funding level in both the House and Senate bills, this was expected.

- Lake Agassiz Regional Library’s Legacy Funds for programming may be reduced by 2/3
- Legacy funds are appropriated by the MN Legislature every 2 years
- The Legislature appropriates a total amount, which is divided among the 12 regional public library systems according to a formula
- In FY 2012 and 2013, the total amount is $3 million for libraries
- LARL received $129,393 in FY 2013 as our share
- The 2013 Legislature is in the process of setting budget numbers for FY 2014-2015 for Legacy funds distribution
- The House Legacy Bill passed on the floor and appropriates $3 million for libraries
(the same as the preceding 2 years) - The Senate Legacy bill was unveiled in the Senate Legacy Subcommittee and appropriates $1 million for libraries (1/3 of the current amount)
- The final amount that will go to libraries will be decided by a joint House and Senate conference committee.
Urge the legislators below to agree to the House level of funding for regional public libraries, which maintains the current funding of $3 million per year.
