We’re thrilled to invite the public to explore the history and culture of Minnesota through legend, love stories, folk tales and music. This fall we’re bringing a series of authors, musicians and entertainers to libraries and community centers throughout northwest Minnesota. All events are offered free of charge, thanks to funding from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, and will feature guests such as legendary storyteller Lise Lunge-Larsen, Celtic musician Laura MacKenzie and local author of “Sister Secrets” Matthew Valan. A full list of events is available here.
The series will kick off with appearances by renowned cookbook author Beatrice Ojakangas (author of “Homemade with Beatrice Ojakangas” and 30 other cookbooks). Ojakangas will bring the Finnish culture of northern Minnesota to life with recipes, anecdotes and humor from her most recent book.
On with the series! We’re looking forward to bringing these authors, artists and more to communities near you.
