This fall, we will welcome a series of performers, authors, historians and experts, in celebration of the talent and stories of Minnesota.

Presenters include Sean Sherman, Oglala Lakota chef and founder of the Sioux Chef, renowned cookbook author Beatrice Ojakangas, a performance from LARL fan favorite, In the Heart of the Beast Puppet Theatre, living history performers and more! Admission to each event is free and the series will begin on September 5 and continue through November. The series is made possible through funding from Minnesota’s Legacy Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Come to the library tomorrow evening from 6-7 for our adult coloring club!! Coloring is just for kids, right? Not anymore! Recently, adults across the country have picked up coloring books as a way to relax and unwind. The health benefits go beyond relaxation, and include exercising fine motor skills and training the brain to focus. Join this latest craze! On the third Tuesday, every other month, this group will meet and discuss the current title at Draft's Sports Bar and Grill in Crookston. Draft's will offer special prices on brews. Feel free to order appetizers or dinner as well. Participants are responsible for the cost of their own food and drinks. Our August book is What She Knew by Gilly Macmillan. Our Summer Reading Program events have come to an end. Our Magic Show finale was a delight! Afterwards, the CALL Committee (Crookston Alliance for Literacy and Learning) treated the kids to free books, ice cream and magic spoons. The grand prize winners of the bikes were Lauren Tull and Ethan Lanctot - bikes donated by Hardware Hank and The Friends of the Library. The winners of the Kindle Fires were Joy Bubna and Jasmine Perala - Kindles donated by the Matrons Club of Crookston. A huge thank you goes out to our sponsors this summer! And.....thanks to all of the kids who participated in these events. Keep reading -- you can still turn in reading sheets until August 31st for more prizes!! Together, we can Build a Better World!
