Detroit Lakes Library Announces Polar Fest Appearance by Jared Munch
As part of Polar Fest, the Detroit Lakes Public Library is pleased to announce an appearance by stand up paddleboard explorer Jared Munch. On Monday, February 10, 2020 at 7 p.m., Munch will bring audiences along on his recent journey: paddleboarding from Duluth to the Arctic Ocean, a trip that took more than 36 days and covered 920 miles.
Munch is also the first and only person to circumnavigate Lake Superior on a stand up paddleboard, a journey that covered more than 1300 miles. Both of his adventures have allowed him to raise more than $5,000 for the Neighborhood Youth Service of Woodland Hills in Duluth, which provides free drop-in prevention and enrichment programs for school-aged youth. As one of the highest rated whitewater stand up paddleboard instructors in the country, Munch is passionate about sharing the joys of paddleboarding with others. When not on the water, he works as a marine and coastal civil engineer.
This event is open to the public, offered free of charge and will be held at the Detroit Lakes Public Library, 1000 Washington Ave.
