Detroit Lakes Library to Offer Genealogy Workshop

The Detroit Lakes Public Library is offering a primer for those interested in researching their family history. A free class will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 7 p.m. at the library, located at 1000 Washington Ave.

Genealogist Rick Crume will be on hand to guide participants on how to use FamilySearch.org (which is offered free-of-charge to library cardholders) for researching, preserving and sharing your family history. The class is offered free-of-charge and no registration is required.

FamilySearch.org offers a large, growing collection of records, books, photos and family trees. Rick will share search strategies and power user tips, such as how to find hidden online databases and browse unindexed record collections. He’ll also show how you can use FamilySearch Memories and the FamilySearch Family Tree to preserve and share your family history. Visit larl.org/research to learn more.
All library locations will be closed after 5 p.m. Tuesday, December 31 and closed Wednesday, January 1 in observance of the New Year's holiday.
