Race into spring with visiting children’s author Amber Sawyer! Join us for a special children’s Storytime where we will hear Amber Sawyer read her book Love to Race, which stars her retired racehorse Derek Bormac N. Love to Race is a picture book told from Derek’s perspective; join us in hearing him describe his beginnings in New Zealand, his harness racing competitions, and his resulting injury. Author Amber Sawyer then adopted Derek, nursed him back to health, and helped his career take off again. Derek stands as one of the oldest winning racehorses in the United States.
All ages are welcome at this special children’s Storytime and we hope you’ll race here to share in this experience!
