The Book as Art and Culture Presented by Anna Arnar, Ph.D at the Moorhead Public Library, Dec. 13
We all love books, but do we always recognize the enduring power of the book as a cultural symbol?
Join author Ann Arnar, Ph.D. (“The Book as Instrument: Stéphane Mallarmé and the Transformation of Print Culture”) for a presentation based on works showcased during multiple art exhibits, which feature art works addressing broad themes such as the sociability of books, the collective memory of libraries and more from artists from different parts of the globe. The author will highlight artists which transform the book into multi-media pieces, changing the book from a static object into a dynamic tool experienced throughout time.
