Renew Your Card

LARL library cards expire every three years. To renew your card, visit or call your library or request to renew your card online.

Library Cards for Youth, Ages 0-17

A parent or guardian must sign the application for the youth. Simply fill out the application and bring an ID or identifying document to a library near you to apply.  The online library card application is also available with a parent or guardian’s consent.

Reciprocal Borrowing

If you are a resident of Minnesota, but reside outside the boundaries of LARL, or if you have a library card from the Fargo, Wahpeton, or West Fargo Libraries, bring your local library card to a LARL location and we’ll enter it into our system. This will allow you to gain access to LARL’s collection of physical books, DVDs, and more. However, as a reciprocal borrower you will not have access to the library’s digital collection of eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMovies, etc. Out-of-state residents do not have access to the Interlibrary Loan system.

If you are not eligible:

If you are not eligible for a LARL card or reciprocal borrowing privileges, you may purchase a Fee Card for you and your household for an annual fee of $30.
