Welcome to the Detroit Lakes Public Library! We hope you’ll stop by for friendly faces, helpful services and endless entertainment options.
Wireless Printing:
Want to print documents at the library from outside the library using your phone, tablet or laptop? We now offer wireless printing.
Book Return Location:
The Detroit Lakes Public Library’s book return is located on the exterior of the building to the right of the main entrance. An off-site book return is also available in front of the Graystone Building on State Street, across the street from the Amtrak Station.
The library has partnered with Minnesota’s Legal Kiosk Project to offer community members the ability to apply for civil legal aid services, access legal resources, and, in some cases, attend online meetings with attorneys and remote court hearings in privacy. Learn more about the Legal Kiosk Project and make a reservation here.
Faxes sent to the library’s fax machine should be marked “Attention: Detroit Lakes Public Library.” Faxes cost $1 per page to send and $1 per page to receive.
Community Needs Assessment Update:
The Detroit Lakes Public Library recently conducted a Becker County community needs assessment to help guide its services, programs, and long-term priorities in the coming years. View the Community Needs Assessment Report Here!

Library friends provide invaluable support to LARL and community libraries. Whether called Friends of the Library, Library Club, etc., these nonprofit organizations sponsor programs and special events.
