Detroit Lakes Library Announces Artist Talk, Exhibit and Photography Walk Featuring W. Scott Olsen
The Detroit Lakes Public Library invites the public to a series of programs featuring the work of photographer W. Scott Olsen, a professor of English at Concordia College. The artist will give a talk on Thursday, October 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Detroit Lakes Public Library to discuss his work ‘A Memory of Steel’, a collection of images taken at the abandoned Fargo Foundry in Fargo, ND the day before the building was destroyed by fire. The works will be on display at the Detroit Lakes Library through November 30. Olsen will also lead a photography walk through downtown Detroit Lakes, to discuss street photography and photo composition in a changing environment. Those interested in attending the photography walk should meet up at the Detroit Lakes Public Library on Saturday, October 22 at 10:00 a.m.

W. Scott Olsen is the author of twelve books of narrative travel/adventure nonfiction, mostly about road trips and flying a small airplane, his work frequently appears in literary and commercial magazines as well as newspapers. His photography has been published in magazines internationally and has been exhibited in galleries throughout the region. He lives in Moorhead.
