Minnesota Poets Out Loud: Spoken Word Poetry From the Land of 10,000 Voices

Join your library for an energetic spoken word poetry presentation featuring diverse voices from across Minnesota. This dynamic program will feature artists performing poems which demonstrate the varied experiences of Minnesotans. This program is appropriate for ages 16 and up and may feature topics sensitive to some listeners. Admission is free thanks to funding from the Minnesota Art & Cultural Heritage Fund.  Ideas and opinions expressed are those of the artists.

Featuring Fatima Camara, Donte Collins, Shane Hawley and Kevin Zepper, with Kyle “Guante” Tran Myhre serving as emcee and performer.  A reception will be held following the performance in the Holmes Ballroom featuring refreshments and the opportunity to mingle with the performers, sponsored by the Becker County Friends of the Library.

Performers:
Kyle “Guante” Tran Myhre is a poet, educator, and activist whose work explores the relationships between narrative, power and resistance.
Joe Davis is a poet and artist who uses art, spoken word and poetry to create space for healing.
Donte Collins (they/them) is a neurodivergent afro-surrealist blues poet, playwright, and movement artist named the Inaugural Youth Poet Laureate of Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Eshay Brantley is a multidisciplinary artist, social justice advocate, teaching artist, and mother who is dedicated to nurturing the narratives of Black folks.
Fatima Camara is a writer, poet and author of “Yellowline,” which was published through the Akashic Book and the African Poetry Book Fund.
Kevin Zepper is a Minnesota State University Moorhead instructor and the author of several poetry chapbooks including “Moonman” and “The Shaman Said.”
Shane Hawley is a writer, performer and a 2010 National Poetry Slam Champion. 

All library location closed after 12 p.m. Tuesday, December 24 and closed Wednesday, December 25 in observance of the holiday.
