“Through the Keyhole” Drawing Contest
Join the Breckenridge Public Library for a drawing contest with reception to follow to checkout the winners!
Calling artists of all ages! Books open doors to new worlds – but what do these worlds look like? Unlock your imagination and the magic of reading with our Through the Keyhole drawing contest!
Entries accepted: February 2 – March 3
Community Voting: March 5-18
Reception and Announcement of Winners: March 19 from 5-6 p.m. (need not be present to win)
Theme: Through the Keyhole
Draw a scene as if you’re peeking through a keyhole into the world of stories! Your artwork could show: What reading means to you Your favorite book character(s) A beloved story setting The world of your favorite genre (fantasy, mystery, sci-fi, etc.)
How to Participate: Pickup or print a template and entry form. Inside the keyhole, draw and color your book-inspired scene. Include a short caption or 1–2 sentence description about your artwork and what inspired it on an index card (available at the library). Submit your artwork and completed entry from in person to the Breckenridge Public Library by March 3, 2026.

Artwork will be voted on by the community.
Winners in four age categories will be selected by popular vote:
- Best Book Buds: Ages birth – 5
- Best Little Readers: Ages 6-12
- Best Chapter Chasers: Ages 13-17
- Best Book Masters: Adults
As well as three special awards that will be selected from all entries:
- Plot Twist Award: artwork with a surprising or unique element
- Best Cover Art: artwork that could be a book cover
- Story Weaver Award: artwork that tells the clearest or most engaging story
