Ada Library to Host Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Get into the Halloween spirit by decorating a pumpkin to look like your favorite book character. Then enter the Ada Public Library’s Literary Pumpkin Decorating Contest this October for a chance to win spooktacular prizes!

Here’s How to Enter:

1) Decorate a pumpkin or gourd (real or artificial) to look like a character from a book. Examples include: Clifford, Harry Potter or Pete the Cat.

2) Pumpkins and gourds may be decorated with paint, markers, colored paper, felt, glue, glitter etc. (carved pumpkins and gourds will not be accepted).

3) The entries may have non-pumpkin components, but the main portion of the entry must be a pumpkin or a gourd.\

Categories:
ages 6 & under, ages 7-12, ages 13-17, ages 18 and older (one entry per person please)

Entry Submission:
Pumpkin and gourd entries will be accepted from October 13th-October 18th during open library hours. Entry forms will be available at the library beginning October 1st and can be filled out at the time of submission.

Display:
Entries will be put on display in the library as soon as they begin arriving on October 13th and remain on display until October 27th.

Voting:
Visit the Ada Public Library anytime from October 19th-26th to vote for your favorites in the following categories: ages 6 & under, ages 7-12, ages 13-17, ages 18 and older. Voting forms can be picked up at the desk. Prizes will be awarded to the winners on October 27th.

Pick-Up:
Entries can be taken home starting on October 27th. Pumpkins, gourds & accessories must be picked up by the time library closes on November 1. Any remaining entries/accessories will be discarded.

All library location closed after 12 p.m. Tuesday, December 24 and closed Wednesday, December 25 in observance of the holiday.
