Commemorating Crossings 200
Velkommen! 2025 is the 200th anniversary of the first organized Norwegian immigration to North America, known as Crossings 200, and today we’re celebrating the arrival of the ship Restauration which arrived in New York City on October 9, 1825. The ship departed from Stavanger, Norway with 52 passengers whose descendants eventually settled primarily in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota.
Your library offers a number of resources to help commemorate this anniversary, including a collection of books and displays on the topic and a number of events, as well as access to a new genealogy resource portal from FamilySearch, which will help family history researchers explore their own story.
