Constant Rabbit by Jasper Fforde
A freak incident has made various animals “human like”. This includes rabbits which now do a lot of the jobs such as waitressing, call center operators and agriculture. When a man who works for a government agency that keeps track of the comings and goings of rabbits has new rabbit neighbors moving in next door, he realizes he knew them back in college. As the village and his workplace try to get him to come up with a reason for moving these “outsiders” to a different community, he has to consider his own feelings. Jasper Fforde is always very funny but also usually gives you something to think about.
