Detroit Lakes Library to Host Virtual Event Featuring Arctic Photographer John Stember

The Detroit Lakes Public Library is joining the Polar Fest fun with a virtual event, held live on the library’s Facebook page. The free event will be held Thursday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m. and will feature Arctic photographer John Stember.

Stember will share the story of a family which lived off the lands in the wilderness of Alaska. The family hand-built log cabins, raised and homeschooled their daughter, received mail via bush plane, and ran a trapline using sled dogs. In this presentation, Stember will share about their lifestyle in the wilderness, how his life came to intersect with their path, and his photographic journey in the Arctic.

To join the live stream, anyone can visit the library’s Facebook page at facebook.com/detroitlakespubliclibrary. A Facebook account is not required to view the presentation and a recording will be available following the event at larl.org/athome.
