Presenting Laura MacKenzie and the Music of Outlander

Join us for a fascinating program featuring traditional Scots and Scottish Gaelic music from the Outlander Series featuring performer Laura MacKenzie.

A wonderful variety of Scottish songs, airs and dance tunes are included in the Outlander series and the sound track of the popular television series incorporates even more. MacKenzie will perform music from both the Highlands and the Lowlands on an array of instruments including wooden flutes, whistles, concertina, Scottish smallpipes, border bagpipes and voice.

This presentation will cover history, language, literature and cultural traditions. Hear some of your favorites, learn about tradition, and join in on a smash-hit wool waulking song!

Admission is free thanks to funding from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Fund.
