Unmarriageable by Soniah Kamal

Pride and Prejudice + Pakistan?  Sign me up!  Jane Austen retellings are my bread and butter, and setting her most famous work in modern-day Pakistan was a brilliant move by Kamal.  It’s fun reading how Kamal bends the story’s plot to fit contemporary issues and seeing how a woman’s role in a marriage may not be all that different from the original’s time period.  Quick, witty, and clever story for a summer afternoon read.
