Dancing into the Future: Jingle Dress Performance & Presentation

Join your library to learn about the significance of the Jingle Dress to local Native people, including the history of how it came to the Ojibwe by a dream, why it is considered a healing dress and how the Ojibwe gifted it to other tribes. This program will feature a presentation of four Jingle Dresses, dance demonstrations and a drum circle. Artist Christy Goulet will host the program and will give a detailed oral account as well as answer audience questions. She is a tribally enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa.

“Dancing Into the Future” will be offered free-of-charge and open to the public. The program is made possible in part thanks to funding from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.
