Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar
An Iranian American young man – a poet and recovering addict – travels to New York City to recover information about his heritage and the meaning of a “good death.”
I enjoyed this book immensely. Every word was intentional, the sentences were tight and each page was an epiphany. While reading the book I felt intensely human. A very satisfying experience, and I’m glad I gave it my time.
